new 与 newly 的区别

      一般地说，new是形容词，newly是副词，二者不同，但new除作形容词外，在一些特定的词组里也可用作副词。
      
      1、new 作为副词
      
      new 作为副词，目前只存在于一些惯用特定的复合词中。例如：
      
      new-born child
      new-laid eggs
      new-baked bread
      new-found pride
      new-fallen leaves
      new-fangled gadgets
      new-fashioned clothes…。
      
      2、其他可自由加上表示“新的”复合形容词就用newly，例如：
      
      newly-appointed president、
      newly-married couple、
      newly-furnished rooms、
      newly-invented gimmicks、
      newly issued stamps、
      newly published books等。
      
      3、new 与 newly 用法举例：
      
      They baptized the new-born child．
      
      他们为初新婴儿洗礼。
      
      Teenagers like new-fashioned gadgets．
      
      年轻人喜欢新款玩意。
      
      Those newfangled inventions are no better than my old machines．
      
      那些新奇发明品不及我的旧机器。
      
      Professor Su is a newly-appointed department head．
      
      苏教授是新任命的系主任。
      
      He is going to move in to a newly-furnished office．
      
      他就要搬入一间新布置的办公室。

 

      4、在下例中，new和newly的涵义不相同：
      
      new-won freedom 初次赢得的自由
      
      newly-won freedom 失而复得的自由
